"I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again."    -Oscar Wilde

About Janan Janan with her kids on vacation.

Janan lives in California and she is the founder of AlienFlower. She has worked in accounting for charitable not-for-profits such as a humane services organization helping feed the poor, a mainstream animal rights organization, a woman's shelter, and a beer/microbrew and wine distributor. Her work has evolved with technology and today she is a virtual bookkeeper, Certified Public Bookkeeper, and a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She co-wrote a computer technical book and university text with E. Stephen Mack that is anthologized in three other books by Sybex. She was writing, then, under the last name "Platt".

Her poems have been published in Poetry Flash, in the Coffeehouse book edited by Christian Crumlish and Levi Asher, and other publications on and offline.

One of her poems, "Hike High", is published (August 2005) in a literacy curriculum to be used to help at-risk elementary students. Developed by Dr. Jane Fell Greene, Ed.D., www.sopriswest.com, over 1/4 million books will be in circulation during the next 5 years in Canada and the United States.

Pharmaceutical Universe
by Janan Young Ford

Art grows from dispensing.
Apothecary weeds with death.
Horticulture may cult from singing.
Gardeners confide with cultivation.

The child of health breathes sky,
the science of children is esoteric.
A rose comes ahead from death
or lives inside the verse.

Fever others with what you see.
The treatment and the deepest blue
take energy from rain.
Pollen and dust are two birds.

So, what of the sunbaked flam and flambé, a shake and a warble, vibrato quiver in a backyard waterfall. Percuss lemons and a trumpet vine like a trilobite and a trillion furrows. Tan the rootstocks on the fingers of a passenger's pigeons. Firm the colors in a molten Leonid. It is lengthwise lentando to let on a hairspring in the half-and-half of halos and lyricism. The foozles are threaded into her tail and then gurgle through his antennae as vegetation. We call it co-conscious. Pewter phrasing. Whorls. Outside the mainstream is fountain cumulus, a flowery metamorphic Carl Sagan flying over Chernobyl with a weathervane. Methinks short, short stories and to create a mood, but sweet. A door with squeaky hinges opening and closing. Music is temperate prophesy, photopia with sunglasses and phrasing. I want honey in my tea. Note: Janan's (aka Janan Platt) poem, Flowa, 2001, is previously published in Can We Have Our Ball Back #13, 2002 ---
